Coman Tiebreak.  The John B. Coman Tiebreak is when the ends are changed after the first point, then after every four points, and at the conclusion of the Tiebreak. 

 

Set Tiebreak

When the set score reaches 6-6, the next server in the rotation will immediately move to the deuce court and serve the first point for the tiebreak.  When the Coman tiebreak is to determine a set winner, play is the first team to win 7 points by a margin of 2 points.  For the set tiebreak the serve rotation of the set must be followed.  The set score is recorded 7-6.  The team that starts the tiebreak will receive for the first game of the following set.  At the end of the tiebreak, teams will change ends before starting the new set. 

 

Super Tiebreak in Lieu of a 3rd Set

When the Coman tiebreak is used in lieu of the third set, play is a Super Tiebreak, the first team to win 10 points by a margin of 2 points.  If the tiebreak is in lieu of a 3rd set, the order of serving and receiving within the team may be altered as in the beginning of each set.  The third set score is recorded 1-0.

 

Coman Serving Rotation

The first server (Team A) serves one point from the Deuce court. After the first point, ends are changed.

The next server (Team B) serves two (2) points. Their first serve from the Ad court, the second serve from the deuce court.

The next server (Team A) serves two (2) points. Their first serve from the Ad court, the second serve from the deuce court.

Ends are changed.

The next server (Team B) serves two (2) points. Their first serve from the Ad court, the second serve from the deuce court.

Back to the first server (Team A) serves two (2) points. Their first serve from the Ad court, the second serve from the deuce court. 

Ends are changed.

Continue the rotation and switching ends until one team wins the tiebreak.

 

Note:  A set break is 2 minutes. (rest period between sets)  The set break is taken AFTER the set (including the set tiebreaker) is completed.
